Yes, when viewing your CT images in Osirix, configure the vetHP preferences to display the right side of the animal on the left side of the screen. Done!
Can vetHP orient my brain MRI studies?
That is what vetHP is best at! All your sagittal images will have the nose pointing to the left of the screen, and your dorsal plane images will have rostral at the top of the screen.
What if the animal was repositioned during the scan?
As long as the modality machine recorded the change of position, vetHP will orient each series correctly. For example, a study with an abdomen obtained in sternal recumbency, and a thorax obtained in dorsal recumbency, will have both series displayed with dorsal at the top of the screen.
What if I prefer to view some images in their native orientation?
Just click on the vetHP icon and remove the rules that you don’t wish to apply to the study.
Can vetHP orient my spine studies?
Yes, as with the brain above, cranial will be to the left of thee screen on sagittal images, cranial will be at the top for dorsal plane images, and right will be on the left side of the screen for transverse images.
Does it work for extremities?
Extremities are often positioned in a different plane than the trunk of the body, which is what vetHP refers to. For example, if the forelegs are stretched toward the nose for an elbow CT study, superior on the image will be the most distal part of the limb, and they will be displayed with the toes at the top of the screen. Just click on the vetHP icon and remove some of the rules, or use the keyboard shortcuts to reorient your images.
How do I uninstall vetHP?
To uninstall the plugin, go to Finder. Click on the “Go” tab while holding down the Option key, and click on Library. Next navigate to Application Support/Osirix/Plugins. You will see vetHP there, and can drag it to the trash. Empty the trash, and restart Osirix or Horos.
